Berlin - Capital of Germany

With 3.5 million citizens Berlin is the capital and biggest city of Germany. Apart of that Berlin is one of the cities with the broadest historical background. Until the Berlin wall fell in 1989 both Germany and Berlin were split into parts.

Berlin's past has been well documented by many of the vibrant museums of the city. The island of museums will allow visitors to revisit the ancient history, renaissance and imperial Germany. But you can also visit history where it happened: the Brandenburg gate, Alexanderplatz with the TV tower or the governmental quarter.

Studying in Berlin

In Berlin you will find several high ranking universities with a strong global reputation: the Free University and the Charité, Humboldt University and the Technical University Berlin. You can also visit their libraries for research and inspiration.

Environment

While Berlin shows all the signs of an industrialised metropolis you will also find parks and other green areas, especially along the river Spree and the small lakes surrounding Berlin.
